Shilpa Shetty to star in EastEnders?

Actress Shilpa Shetty has apparently been approached to star in EastEnders.

The 32-year-old actress is said to be in talks with the producers of the hit BBC series, where she's likely to play a member of a new Asian family about to move into Albert Square, reports The Daily Express.

Meanwhile, Shilpa Shetty, who rose to international stardom with Britain's Celebrity Big Brother, has bought a 10million pounds mansion in Weybridge, Surrey, recently.

She's expected to move in after marrying London-born millionaire Raj Kundra.

Hotspot for Hollywood celebrities  

Hollywood 'power couple' Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had taken time out of their shooting schedule for "A Mighty Heart" in Mumbai to visit the desert state in 2008. Rajasthan is also a favorite of "Rolling Stones" frontman Mick Jagger, who last visited the state in 2008 with daughter Jade.

Shilpa Shetty has credited late Jade Goody with making her a star in Britain.

The Bollywood stunner and the TV celebrity appeared on Big Brother in 2007, where Goody sparked thousands of complaints from viewers for her allegedly racist abuse of Shetty.

Jade Goody passed away on Sunday after a highly publicised battle with cervical cancer. She was 27.

Shilpa Shetty said it was "destiny" for the pair to work together again on that show, but added: 'We didn't get a chance to bury the hatchet.

'We kind of moved on with our lives. Every time her name was taken (mentioned), my name would be taken and the whole racism issue would be raked up... we had this weird connect in a strange way.'

Shilpa Shetty said she last spoke to Jade Goody two days before the British star got married in February, adding: 'She led a very short life, but she's seen it all, she's seen the highs, the lows, she's had children at such a young age, she's married.'

Abhay Deol was spotted with director Mira Nair at the star-studded India Abroad Person of the Year award ceremony in New York on March 20.

Now, Abhay Deol has been making quite a splash with off-beat, well-received films like Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! and Dev D. And Nair, as we all know, is the master storyteller. Any chance we'll see them collaborating soon, especially because Deol is based mostly out of New York these days?

Imran Khan, Farhan Akhtar's Victory show  

The play Vagina Monologues held its 200th show on March 25 in Mumbai's Tata theatre, NCPA. The programme was called V Day India 2009, V as in Victory. Since it was a special anniversary show, quite a few Bollywood stars took to the stage, supporting women issues.

Farhan Akhtar and his sister Zoya Akhtar recited a poem together, on the status of women when a girl child and a boy child is born.

Freida Pinto: Highest paid actress in India  

Freida Pinto, the star in the Oscar-winning film, Slumdog Millionaire, has leaped ahead of her Indian rivals to become the highest paid actress in Bollywood, a news report said.

Following the success of Slumdog, which took home eight Oscars and whose worldwide box office receipts so far are estimated at over $ 270 million, the Indian model-turned-actress has landed a series of lucrative roles with top directors, including Woody Allen and Julian Schnabel.

According to a report, Freida Pinto has pushed ahead of her colleagues Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, to become the highest paid actress in India.

The ‘Khan’ in the title is incidental; Shah Rukh Khan’s character in the film is Rizwan Khan, who is autistic with limited social interaction abilities. Apparently, the film has generated interest among Indian and overseas distributors already. Karan is aware that he’s on thin ice, directing a film that has characters and situations he’s unfamiliar with. “I am the wrong man to direct this film,” he admits. But at the heart of My Name Is Khan is a tender love story and at directing that, Karan Johar is king. “How can I not have romance in my films?” he asks. “Every filmmaker has to evolve some time. I wanted to make a film in the realm outside my comfort zone. And Shibani Bhatija came up with this mind-blowing script that challenged my abilities,” he says.

Hook Ya Crook is a realistic film made in David Dhawan style  

The film shoots of David Dhawan movies are almost as much fun as the films themselves. Hook Ya Crook, currently being shot at Hyderabad's Ramoji Film Studio, was no exception.

A huge jail set, created by Samir Chanda, has been erected stretching across four acres. It took three months to get made. And this, as John Abraham explains, is unlike the regular prisons in India. This jail is state-of-the-art, with large cricket grounds. In fact, John's cell looks borrowed from a Hollywood film, just like its story, rumoured to be inspired from Sylvester Stallone-starrer Escape to Victory (1981).

John Abraham don't think Abhishek can live without me  

Dostana seemed to work for John Abraham in more ways than one. Not only did it give the actor a big hit, it also made his butt very, very famous.

Now, there's talk of a sequel, and John's quite excited about it. He talks to Patcy N about taking the story forward, his new film with David Dhawan called Hook Ya Crook, and why Abhishek Bachchan will not be able to live without him.

So Dostana has a sequel coming up?

I've heard there is a sequel. I read Abhishek's quote that he is interested in a sequel and Tarun (Mansuhkani, director) is thinking of making it. So I'm very excited. I would love to do a Dostana sequel and work with Abhishek. He's the smartest and most beautiful co-star. I don't think Abhishek can live without me.

How will the story move forward in the sequel?

Everyone at Dharma Productions has his own version of how to take the story forward. I have my own too -- where the two of us meet at a holiday destination and how things start once again.
